Videoclip Italia Awards 2024 - shortlist announced ahead of awards ceremony on June 2nd

Videoclip Italia Awards 2024 - shortlist announced ahead of awards ceremony on June 2nd

Promonews - 3rd May 2024

The nominations have been announced for the third edition of Videoclip Italia Awards, to be held in Rome on Sunday, June 2nd, with videos for Maneskin, Blanco, and Mahmood leading the way on this year's shortlist.

Nominees were announced earlier this week for the event celebrating music video production in Italy - created by webmag Videoclip Italia - in 18 categories, covering best videos by music genre, technical categories, from direction and colour grading to special effects and makeup, and an international video category.

Over 230 music videos produced in 2023 were entered into the competition and submitted to the judgment of the jury of over industry professionals from both Italy and elsewhere. Now the nominations have been announced, and the most nominated videos are Blanco's Bruciasse il Cielo, directed by Simone Peluso, and Måneskin ft Tom Morello's Gossip, directed by Tommaso Ottomano, with four nods each at this year's Videoclip Italia Awards.

Competing for the Director of the Year award are Tommaso Ottomano (winner of the award last year), Enea Colombi and Simone Peluso (both previous winners of the Director of the Year under 25 award), along with Francesco Lorusso (Broga’s) and Martina Pastori, nominated for the first time in the category.

The Best International category includes two CANADA-produced videos - Travis Scott's self-directed video for Sirens and Pensacola's video for Chemical Brothers' Skipping Like A Stone - plus The Blaze's self directed video for Madly, Audrey Nuna's Locket, directed by the late Valentin Petit, and Alaskan Tapes' Of Woods and of Seas, directed by Andrew De Zen.

"The high quality of the finalist videos testifies to the creative energy and vitality of the sector, despite industry insiders acknowledging a productive downturn in 2023," say Alessio Rosa and Nicola Marceddu, artistic directors of the Videoclip Italia Awards. "The shortlist of this edition features both established names in the music video scene vying for awards alongside emerging talents ready to make their mark.

"Italian and foreign professionals on the expert jury voted enthusiastically, and although their challenging task inevitably led to the exclusion of several worthy works from the final selections, we find that this edition's shortlist is a tribute to the diversity, innovation, and hard work of all those who contribute to the Italian music video community.

"We look forward to gathering on June 2nd to experience together the third edition of Videoclip Italia Awards, which as always will be above all a celebration, the finest this industry deserves."

The awards ceremony will take place in Rome, on Sunday, June 2nd at the Largo Venue, from 6pm. The event is free - supported by FIMI and Anica (the Italian equivalent of MIA and BFI respectively), and sponsored by Trans Audio Video (main sponsor), Sony, Hollyland, Atomos, Kodak, and Panalight. The detailed program of the evening, including the afterparty, will be announced shortly. Find out more about the event here.
