The 31st annual MTV Music Video Awards were held at The Forum in Inglewood California on Sunday which saw Terry Richardson's controversial promo for Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball win Video Of The Year and DANIELS receive the coveted Best Direction award for their video for DJ Snake & Lil Jon's Turn Down For What.

The big British win was Emil Nava's video for Ed Sheeran's Sing, for Best Male Video, while Matthew Cullen's video for Katy Perry's Dark Horse won Best Female Video. Among the Professional categories, 1st Ave Machine won the Best Visual Effects award for their work on OK Go's Writing's On The Wall, while Ryan Heffington won Best Choreography for Sia's Chandelier.

Hosted by a cross-section of America's entertainment talent – including Jay Z, Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez – the awards culminated in a special 12 song live performance from Beyonce.
