Floria Sigismondi won the top Director of the Year award, Ian & Cooper won Best Directorial Debut, and David Fincher’s video for Justin Timberlake’s Suit & Tie was the most honoured single video at the 2013 MVPA Awards – the awards given by US music video professional body the Music Video Producers Association – held in Los Angeles on May 30th.

The Timberlake/Suit & Tie video won best choreography (Marty Kudelka), best cinematography (Matthew Libateque), best styling (Trish Summerville) and best direction of a male artist (Fincher). Other multiple winners included Melina Matsoukas’s video for Solange’s Losing You, and the DANIELS-directed video for Foster The People’s Houdini. Ian & Cooper’s video for Joel Compass’s Back To Me also won Best International Video.

There were also two special awards given at the 2013 MVPAs to two members of the US music video community for their longstanding contribution to the industry. Danny Lockwood, Capitol Records’ head of video production, was presented with the Doug Kratz Award for Creative Excellence, while Steven Gottlieb, editor-in-chief of US music video industry website Video Static was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
