Daithí 'Orange' by Locky

David Knight - 26th Nov 2018

Lochlainn McKenna (aka Locky) takes a familiar theme and breathes new life into it, in his latest video for electronic artist Daithí.

McKenna chronicles the arc of a relationship, and does it from a single perspective - where the TV would be in a tower block flat. What follows are a series of moments - about 50 of them - which tells the whole story. Most importantly, he makes an ordinary couple completely believable, and their lives realistic, so that makes you care about what happens, however inevitable the final outcome.

"We wanted to make a story that could translate across the world, a story that would be relatable to anyone who has ever been in a relationship, anywhere," says McKenna, who reveals this was shot in a single day. "It was made with two amazing actors, over 80 costume changes, 50+ scenes and a tiny crew."

The video for Orange follows McKenna's previous video for Daithí, an impressive portrait of rural Irish alienation for In My Darkest Moments.
