Carpark North ‘Everything Starts Again’ by Jeppe Kolstrup

Powerlessness and desperation are the twin pillars of Jeppe Kolstrup's video for Danish band Carpark North's Everything Starts Again - emotions that stem very much from the video's location: it was shot in Greenland, by Jeppe and his DoP Niels Thastum. Nice place to visit; you just wouldn't want to live there.

Nice place to visit; you just wouldn't want to live there. But it wouldn't have been possible without the local kids who helped out, after Jeppe and Niels were unable to arrive due to ash clouds in drifting from Iceland. They succeeded in doing a casting, location scouting and shooting in two days in and around Nuuk. The band are certainly impressed. "Rarely it happens that a song grows larger with a video, but it happened here," says Carpark North's Søren Balsner, "Jeppe told us a story about the cemetery in the video and all the young people who are there due to suicide because they can not get away - can't get anywhere. 'Everything Starts Again' has become so much stronger and more important than we ever intended. Whether this has been a deliberate act from Jeppe, or not, it's an amazing experience." The band became known among music video lovers when Martin De Thurah created his debut video for the Carpark North single, Human. Lately the band have been touring all over Europe with 30 Seconds To Mars and released their world wide debut Lost at Sony Music.
