MindsEye launches music video department with Matthew Walker and Zite et Léo

Promonews - 24th Aug 2021

MindsEye, one of London's top commercial production companies, has now launched a brand new music video department, with a roster including UKMVA-winner Matthew Walker and French directing duo Zite et Léo.

MindsEye's new music video department is overseen by Leah Joyce, previously at Academy, and the roster of directors will be repped for music videos by Marisa Garner and Lisa Foo at MGA.

The roster features Matthew Walker, who has become one of the UK Grime scene's go-to directors with his work for Skepta, JME, Wretch 32 and others, and who won the inaugural Best HipHop/Grime/Rap Video UK award at last year's UKMVAs for his superb video for JME's Live (above).

Also featured are Zite et Léo, the Paris-based duo whose imaginative, heavily art-directed work has graced videos for Euphories, November Ultra, Petit Prince and, most recently, for Polo & Pan's Tunnel, featuring Channel Tres (below).

The new music video department at MindsEye also includes Dugan O'Neal, the US-based director who has combined comedy, visual invention and cinematic style in numerous videos, including for Duck Sauce, Haim, The Acid and Temper Trap.

Another member of the roster is Uncle - aka Tasmanian-born Rhett Wade-Ferrell - known for his collaborations with Flight Facilities, including the video for Down To Earth, starring Sam Rockwell.  The roster also features two up and coming talents, Sage Bennett and Selina Miles.

Leah Joyce says that establishing the new music video department at MindsEye - which is renowned for its comedic work in commercials - is a natural part of the company's development.

"Our ethos as a company is 'we have the talent to make you smile'," she says. "We make work that is fun, cheeky and often laugh out loud. And we're setting up the department because we believe that it's an important pillar of any successful production company.

"Music videos are not only an outlet for brilliant creativity but a place to showcase great craft," she continues. "All of my favourite directors - like Ian Pons Jewell, Oscar Hudson, Megaforce, Kim Gehrig, Us - all started in music videos and in every one of their early videos you can see the makings of a master.

"I'm super excited to recruit and nurture some brilliant young directors and hopefully contribute to the next generation of mindblowing talent."
