BUG 40 - the videos
David Knight - 12th Dec 2013
The last BUG shows of the year presented another programme of marvellous music videos - and Ian Pons Jewell was special guest at the premiere of BUG 40 at the BFI Southbank on November 28th.
Ian talked to Adam Buxton about his time living in Bolivia this year, and making four music videos in quick succession there, including the Landshapes video that took him to this rather remote corner of South America, and the video for Naughty Boy's La La La - probably the most remarkable and surprising hit video of the year.
Adam also took a look at recent interactive videos - including superb Bob Dylan video for Like A Rolling Stone - and there was the usual mix of genius animation, storytelling and comedy at BUG 40 – including Shane Meadows' unearthing Jake Bugg's acting talent for Slumville Sunrise, Andrew Thomas Huang's brilliant VFX in Atoms For Peace; Abteen Bagheri's story of young love for Bored Nothing; Mryzk & Moriceau's 'castration nightmare' for Jackson and his Computerband, and Emily Kai Bock's poignant tale of loss and memory for Arcade Fire.
