Minuit 'Paris Tropical' by Cloe Bailly

Emma K - 19th July 2018

Cloe Bailly directs a steamy video for summer track Paris Tropical for French band Minuit.

The film is set during a Parisian heatwave, where the intensity of the heat reaches comical levels. The track is from their debut album, ‘Vertigo’ and precedes their tour later this year.

“We have known summer in Paris during a heat wave, everyone heaped upon each other and that desire to suddenly magic a fresh pool of water under our feet,” Minuit have announced “The song Paris Tropical translates both the heaviness of the heat and the relief of the storm that comes to cool us down. It was therefore important for us to feel these two moods, that we feel this change of state.

“In the film we see the comically extreme heat and also the liberating side of the party, carefree, dance, joy... In the end we wanted to offer a light and unifying clip to accompany us throughout the summer.”

“With ‘Paris Tropical’, I wanted to create a visual universe and concept, that was unusual for a French music video. A bit ‘out there’ and absurd. Hence the idea of excessive sweat that creates water damage... Luckily, Minuit supported me in my delirium (and waded with joy in the frozen water on the day of filming - respect!)”

“The film has a very cinematic feel to it and the rhythm and lyrics lent themselves well to this concept. I love comedy and really enjoyed creating this film.”
