Public Service Broadcasting 'They Gave Me A Lamp' by Brain Wash

David Knight - 22nd June 2017

Taking inspiration from the title of the track and the concept of the new Public Service Broadcasting album, They Gave Me A Lamp reflects on the history of coal mining communities in the UK.

Shot in a retired mining site, archive footage of the communities that were built around the site is projected onto Public Service Broadcasting as they perform. The camera acts as the wondering spirit floating through darkness and light as we capture a solemn but powerful performance that builds to a triumphant and hopeful crescendo.
