RUFFMERCY's distinctive animation has graced numerous hiphop videos in recent times - most recently for the new release of J Dilla's The Sickness featuring Nas. And the productivity of the man also known as Russ Murphy shows no sign of abating. In fact, Black Acre Records allowed him to choose the track he wanted to make a video for, from experimental artist Memotone's new album Chimes.

"Unfortunately for the label I probably chose the least easy listening/marketable song from the album, but I fell in love with it," says RUFFMERCY. "Upon finishing the video pretty much every music blog turned down hosting it. Is it really that shit?"

Certainly not. The video for Bird Eating Spider, works and reworks one of the illustrator/animator's recurring images, of the grimacing cartoon face, into an intensely hypnotic visual which ideally suits the track.
