Tiggs Da Author ft. Lady Leshurr 'Run' by Craig Moore

Cat Velez - 27th Jan 2016

Craig Moore follows up his superb rollerskating extravaganza in Sigala's Sweet Lovin' with an equally trick-heavy spectacle for Tiggs Da Author's Run, featuring singer Lady Leshurr.

This time - instead of staging contortionist feats, rollerskating pirouettes and BMX tricks - Moore captures the awesome, ridiculously risky world of South Africa's car spinning stuntmen. There's some really breathtaking tricks performed here.

It's a joyful, wholly entertaining video for a lively track, reminding the viewer to let loose and approach life's little troubles with light-heartedness. Just don't try that hanging out the car window stuff, kids...

CRAIG MOORE:

"Spinning is a gangster ritual from the South African townships, and has become popular due to the crazy stunts that are performed while the car spins on the spot. It was pretty special to see these guys in action. The sound of revving engines, screeching tyres and the confidence at which they perform their stunts is epic. They enter the ring and just tear it up until both tyres burst and then they keep spinning on the rims just to show off.

"The trick for me was how to convey this energy on screen and give the viewer the same experience, whilst placing Tiggs in the action with the moving cars as he performed. The orange car came pretty close on one of the takes and Tiggs just carried on with his performance. I feel this really sells it as his confidence juxtaposes the danger of the situation and there is a certain coolness in that.

"The location we chose to film at helped shape the overall feel of our video as this was a proper gangster hangout where spinning exhibitions took place. Big thanks to Dan, Joseph and Liam, our drivers Marwahn, Lyek and Eddie Rasta – and Bubi (our art director) who gave us access to this unique community (and for throwing tyres off the roof and rolling flaming tyres through frame)."
