Matt Maude delivers this mammoth and hugely cinematic promo – shot in 3 cities and the Californian desert – for Don Diablo’s insanely catchy Give It All, centred around the strange phenomena known as ‘lightening flowers’.

Produced under the Left Eye Blind banner – the division of The Blind Club that focuses on music promos and commercial projects – Matt had this to say about the production:

“If you google ‘lightening flowers’ you’ll come across a multitude of images showing the scaring on people’s skin which occurs as a result of being side-struck by lightening. The electricity surges through the individual’s blood vessels, scorching the capillaries along the way resulting in an incredibly unique scaring pattern. This was the starting point for the story and imagery we wanted to explore.

“We travelled alongside Don with a really small crew, shooting across a multitude of locations including Amsterdam, London, LA and Joshua Tree in the Californian desert. Thankfully we had support from several talented collaborators who helped us scale up the crew when needed in the cities away from home.

“It was a huge challenge to say the least and with three artists featuring on the track it had it’s numerous headaches with artist availability (which included unfortunately losing Kelis from the video). In the end although both Left Eye and Alex Clare are based in the UK we ended up filming his scenes in downtown LA in the same warehouse that Christopher Nolan used to shoot scenes for Inception and The Dark Knight, we shot those scenes in a tight four hour window around his writing schedule.

“Headaches aside it was an undeniable pleasure to work with Don every day, he was actively involved in the creative, and there was a great collaborative relationship throughout”.
