Lauren Aquilina 'Wanderlust (live session)' by Joshua Sanger

Jimmy Brown - 18th Mar 2013

Featuring a fully live recording of her balled Wanderlust, Joshua Sanger places Lauren Aquilna and her string players on an ice-rink as ice-skaters Yasmin Tilly and Max Berry go about their impressive routine - all for Comic Relief.

"Ultimately the song & video is about letting go of the person you love and putting their happiness before your own" says Joshua. "To put this across on screen we knew the shoot had to be simple, especially in the 3 hours we had to be in and out of the ice rink. This time included choreographing the dance, recording the sound & shooting, so we had to be very effective". "Although it was a whirlwind experience and it had a few tricky elements like getting the piano on ice and having a skater camera op, I feel that we managed to achieve the subtle narrative we had in place and also came out with a fairly elegant piece that supports Lauren's beautiful track". Lauren Aquilina
Wanderlust (live session)
Producer: Rob Jelley
Production Company: Kode Media
For Kode Media: Alex Harman
DOP: Matthew Emvin Taylor
Camera: Giles Campbell Longley, James Mclauchlan & Matt Fleming
Gaffers: Elliot Williams and Richard Staff
Makeup: Sara Morris
Runners: Josh Hailling and Paul Atkinson
Editor: Sofie Alonzi
Sound Recordists & Mixers: Tom Clarke & Calum Mordue
Colourist: Jon Olav Stokke @ Met Film
Skaters: Yasmin Tilly and Max Berry
Choreographer: Becky Smith
