Ghostdan’s Dem Ah Nah Badman by Drew Cox
David Knight - 20th Aug 2009
Something of a contrast with his other work, like his slick effort for Aviv Geffen's Love Song, is Drew Cox's video for unsigned Hackney artist Ghostdan.

Drew shot this no-budgeter in Dalston Market in London armed with a camera and a torch, and then applied the extremely, er, grimy fx himself in the edit. It ain't slick, but it's well sick. http://www.youtube.com/watchv=JnEfv_Ro46M[/youtube] Drew Cox on making the video for Ghostdan's Dem Ah Nah Badman "I made the video using a combination of low lighting, editing, compositing and low end data moshing to give it the appearance of dissolving particles. "I wanted to create an image that was in complete contrast to the usual dancehall/bashment styled video and played more with the notion of the early 90's hip hop video but with more of a modern, more futuristic twist. "I shot a combination of high speed stop motion photography with compact flash, combined with low light video and then in the edit, I crushed out all the colors to play more with outlines and shapes than basic image - and to create more of an ghostlike image illusion, to fit with the artist's style. "Layers of images were then brought in to create a composite of images and then I reintroduced more distorted/morphing colour and basic moshing to give it more definition and punch."
