Joe Dixon directs an unsettling, AI-manipulated promo for&nbsp;Cordelia Gartide.The video for 16xo&nbsp;draws viewers into a hall of mirrors that represents the internet’s infancy. A place made of distance where almost everything is a disguise, including the teenage Cordelia, who we gradually realise is a faceless simulation.“The process of working with the AI was slow and intuitive, we learned quickly we had to treat it like a collaborator rather than another piece of software," Dixon explains."At the same time, I really wanted to avoid it being ‘an AI’ film, so we used more traditional filmic techniques like split diopter shots to pull the two worlds together."[imgtoken data:1]The innovative, surrealistic promo perfectly encapsulates the emotional themes of the track, and the blend of real world and AI technology feels like a step up from some of the more generative examples floating about in the community. By using it in a collaborative process as opposed to just prompting and cutting it together, it suggests a way to enrich the visual world the filmmaker has envisioned, rather than a shortcut to a style.&nbsp;"I am very happy with the results," says Dixon. "The visuals are beautiful, and they really build on the song's message. However, for me, the true centre of the video is Cordelia’s brilliant and haunting performance, rather than the technology we used to capture it.”

When Stormzy does videos, he does them big, and the video&nbsp;for Toxic Trait, directed by Femi Ladi,&nbsp;is no different, boasting a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of set builds, visual effects and cameos - delivered with a mesmerizing motion controlled camera&nbsp;move.What's more, there's a dramatised therapy session featuring guest artist Fredo - with his therapist played by TV royalty Alison Hammond.The video fictionally contextualises a plethora of 'toxic' situations that Stormzy refers to in the track, honing in on gambling, violence and the glorification of luxury lifestyles. Jacek Zmarz directs a dreamlike promo for Chartreuse, which&nbsp;sees a handful of characters each wrapped in their own mini narratives, wondering around a mysterious forest. .&nbsp;The video for Switch It On, Switch It Off is built around the central image of a parachutist who hasn't quite stuck his landing,&nbsp; presented as an interwoven montage of surreal dreamscapes, connected by a sense of whimsical wonder.&nbsp;"The video is inspired mainly by some Tarkovsky films and a little cottage that I visited a couple times as a kid," Zmarz mentions. "The image of the parachute diver was always there for me when listening to the song, and him getting carried away became the central point on which we built the rest of the video."I love the song's musical fluctuations and lyrics that sometimes felt like an internal monologue, and I wanted the video to feel like an exploration of these types of private and tender moments, things that can run away in your head until something happens in the real world and snaps you out of it."

Coffee &amp; TV have announced the signing of Lewis Crossfield to the London-based&nbsp;creative studio&nbsp;as senior colourist. &nbsp;Crossfield arrives at Coffee &amp; TV from his previous role as Head of Colour Grading at Time Based Arts, where he collaborated with the likes of Seb Edwards for Penny ‘The Rift’ and ‘Creativity: It’s What Makes Us’ for the V&amp;A, directed by Georgia Hudson - both of which have been shortlisted for Best Colourist at this year’s British Arrows Craft Awards.He joins&nbsp;Simona Cristea, George Neave and Tash Hicks in the Colour department at Coffee &amp; TV. His arrival follows the recent promotion of Neave to senior colourist,&nbsp;and of Hicks from assistant&nbsp;to colourist.The team will be based at Coffee &amp; TV’s new Clerkenwell studio, which includes four grading suites and a large Dolby Atmos grading theatre, in addition to a robust remote working setup.“Lewis' work speaks for itself and we’re so thrilled to have him on board," says Leonie Moreton,&nbsp;Coffee &amp; TV's&nbsp;Managing Director. Following his directing debut with (pls) set me on fire, Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds directs aits sequel - another&nbsp;strongly conceptual performance video - for It Hurts.From the claustrophobic locked-off shot in his previous outing, Reynolds employs another largely one-take approach, but allows the camera to roam across a large space in which a number of random dramatic vignettes are playing out - all of which have big consequences for the participants.“In typical Shikari fashion, I threw myself in at the deep end with directing, and decided to shoot two videos in one day," explains Reynolds of the making of this and the previous video. “It was an incredibly intense experience, but we had a super-talented, passionate, focused team, and were able to get a great result.“Personally, I found it rewarding to see my ideas brought to life and create a narrative connecting the two videos. I love the attention to detail that directing allowed, and the ability to bring some of the song’s themes to life in more depth.”

Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds makes his video directing debut with this powerful one-take&nbsp;promo for the band's new single, (pls) set me on fire.&nbsp;The video sees the band perform&nbsp;in an effervescent setup towards the back of an industrial location, whilst a vintage TV displays retro graphics and animated lyrics from the track on screen in the foreground.&nbsp;It's a simple yet strikingly effective&nbsp;idea, that showcases the band at their best, and uses clever composition and lighting to keep eyes darting between the two positions on-screen, in a captivating ping-pong match for viewers'&nbsp;attention.[imgtoken data:1]So a lyric video for the track may not be required. But with Reynolds breaking out of the performance near the end, to write in a notebook and then wander distractedly off-screen, suggests there is still more to come. Indeed, that is confirmed by Reynolds himself."I wanted this video - my first foray into directing! - to feel minimal and uncomplicated, but at the same time full of dynamism, and therefore the polar opposite of the next video, which is a&nbsp;bewildering romp through surrealism," he says."So there’s a simplicity here, a willingness to let the raw energy of the performance be the focus, untainted by effects or complex editing. But it&nbsp;should also be mentioned that the main function of this video is really just to set up the next one…"&nbsp;

The Trash Factory AKA James Arden directs a charming throwback to 80s television, in his video for Inhaler.&nbsp;The video for Love Will Get You There sees the group frolic through several late-night concepts, from The Late Late Show to a gunge-tastic gameshow.&nbsp;Packed full of personality and little easter egg throwbacks, it's an upbeat vision for an instantly catchy track - with plenty of playfighting and faux drama to create some conflict.&nbsp;"We shot this entirely on 40-year-old broadcast cameras that I’m honestly shocked we were able to get our hands on," Arden says. "I wanted to recreate the feeling of a world when terrestrial television ruled the airwaves and you could spend an evening skipping between channels."Visually, I was inspired by 1980s late-night talk shows, like Gay Byrne’s in Ireland, tacky game shows I used to watch after school and, of course, performances on The Old Grey Whistle Test and Top of the Pops."The best memories were always when things got a bit out of control live on air… this promo is about those infamous chaotic moments."
