Companies invited to host BFI trainees in Creative Skillset scheme

Companies invited to host BFI trainees in Creative Skillset scheme

Promo News - 23rd Apr 2015

Production companies are now being invited to host BFI Film Academy trainees - with funding available to pay the trainees, via Creative Skillset and the BFI. With trainees paid a living wage, companies contribute just £50 per week towards their training allowance for up to 12 weeks.

It's part of the BFI Academy internship programme, which is intended to be a bridge to employment for talented young people who want to make a career in film. With an emphasis on open access, the programme is targeted to help those young people less likely to progress to further or higher education, or who may find it hard to gain work experience in the creative industries.

Creative Skillset placed the first round of trainees with companies at the end of March 2015, and is now seeking expressions of interest from companies that want to host trainees. The scheme is open to companies working across all areas of film in the UK.

Find out more information about the scheme here, and production companies interested in the scheme can download the BFI Film Academy Internship Programme - Factsheet for companies, and express their interest by completing the Expression of Interest form.

For an informal discussion about the programme, or for more information, contact Michael Brandon on 020 7713 9800, or email academyinterns@creativeskillset.org
