Following their promo for Slam Donahue, directors Michael Lawrence and Alex Amoling team up once more, this time for Florida 5-piece Day Joy.
Shot in Kennebunk, Arundel and Biddeford Maine, the poignant and sometimes graphic video for Go To Sleep, Mess delves into the song’s heartbreaking lyrics about struggle and addiction through the two separate lives of a man and a young boy, with Alex himself playing the man.
The directing duo had this to say about the promo:
“Go To Sleep Mess inspired a dream-like world, where we could explore the idea of a time space continuum that funnels childhood emotional trauma into the present consciousness of a blue-collar man struggling with addiction. The juxtaposition of two worlds collide in balletic form against the backdrop of a seemingly familiar landscape.”
