Having launched his video directing career in early 2012 with a painstaking cut-out animation video for Double Vision Love, Joe Connor reunites with The Moons, to direct the promo for Something Soon – featuring Paul Weller. And Joe was able to engage the services of the Modfather himself for this one. It’s a classic black and white performance of the band and their special guest, enhanced with simple yet effective ink-in-water VFX.
“The Moons, Weller, ink… it’s a pretty good combination to be able to shoot,” says Joe. “The Moons are good mates and it’s always an absolute pleasure to do stuff for them, especially when they mentioned the next video would contain Mr Paul Weller himself, who so kindly gave his time on a sunny day to come down and do this video.
“We wanted to do something that had an old school James Bond feel, just keeping it really simple and graphic. It really wouldn’t have happened without the lovely people at Pro Vision studios, Spring Lighting, Panavision or Ian and Andy from Chief who practically lived at the computer while we finished it off and who are still seeing ink in their sleep…”
