Toro Y Moi ‘So Many Details’ by HARRYS

Watch out DANIELS, there’s another like-minded, same name directing duo in town – HARRYS – who’ve delivered a sleek promo for the slick Toro Y Moi. Their experience with fashion videos is used here to excellent effect, shooting Chazwick Bundick’s (aka Toro Y Moi) sultry tale of seduction with subtle surrealism and stylistic flourishes.
Excellent work by stylists Ayame Suzuki and Kate Stein, and HARRYS direction means that both both Chaz and his co-star are cooler than cool.
“When we heard the track it became clear that Chaz was embodying a character,” say the directors. “There’s lots of hyperbole in this song, and we wanted to carry that into the video and create an aesthetic that exaggerated a certain lifestyle. It takes a lot from 90′s rap videos but also shares some stylistic elements more in line with European art house films from the 70′s and 80′s.
“We chose to shoot it on 35mm film with anamorphic lenses because the video had to look like a real movie. Big ups to Hype Williams and Bryan Ferry.”
