The Rolling Stones ‘Doom And Gloom’ by Jonas Åkerlund
Friday, 23. November 2012 - 5:00 pm
Jonas Åkerlund directs the video for The Rolling Stones’ Doom And Gloom – their 50th anniversary track – featuring Swedish actress Noomi Rapace – and it’s classic Jonas: no-holds-barred, yet peerlessly slick visuals from the director who puts the glam back into rock.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star is definitely the star of the show here – the muse for Akerlund’s satirical take on the lyrics, from WW2 bomber pilot to homeless waif to (half-naked) rock chick to Mick Jagger replacement – and smoking a hell of a lot and eating til her head explodes…
The Stones largely play second-fiddle to Noomi’s blistering, multi-faceted performance – but of course still look suitably iconic in their cragginess. Even the song ain’t that bad – or at least it doesn’t sound like it when you’re watching this. It rocks.
