Charlie White and Boom Bip ‘Music For Sleeping Children: Melissa and Mikayla’ by Molly Schiot

Thursday, 1. November 2012 - 11:27 pm

Music For Sleeping Children is a collaboration between producer Boom Bip (Bryan Hollon) and artist Charlie White in which the angst-ridden outpourings of young teenage girls are scored to electro-pop beats. The result is one of the most intriguing conceptual music projects this year – and there’s a thought-provoking video, each bearing the recognisable imprint of Charlie White, for every track.

In fact, this one Melissa and Mikayla is not very Charlie. Instead, its a simply brilliant display of ‘face-on-toast’ stop-frame animation by Molly Schiot. Molly brings her signature vision to the work, bringing a playful hugely imaginative aesthetic which compliments the whimsical yet illuminating visit into the minds of two American adolescents…
