Post War Years ‘The Bell’ by Tobias Stretch

the uniquely talented director and animator has already made two weird and wonderful videos for indie band Post War Years – for All Eyes and Glass House – featuring some of his distinctive sculpture/character creations, including the multi-coloured ‘Glass Dalek’, together with a human heroine called Arianna.
Now comes the third part – the most trippily mesmerising yet. Tobias explains all here: “The journey of our PWY protagonist Arianna continues out into the gritty city streets. She races through another surreal world that challenges and inspires her to reach for new levels within herself.
“As she wanders, characters from her past are engaged in a race, including a Robogranny and her alien child Gorky who race an insectalinoid that has stolen their Teleportation device. Arianna becomes victorious when she beats them all to the finish line as she rides inside the Glass Dalek that once carried her love.”
For a director who has made some remarkable works in the past – perhaps most notably for Radiohead’s Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, that won an Aniboom award a couple of years ago – this has to be one of his finest achievements. And it may not be the last of his wonderful trips for Post War Years either…
