Band Of Skulls ‘You’re Not Pretty’ by Joseph Connor
Tuesday, 18. September 2012 - 2:35 pm

After his fine video for Bruises, Joe Connor gets back together with Band Of Skulls for You’re Not Pretty But You Got It Goin’ On, for a slab of good old fashioned jailhouse rock. And when the prisoners start kicking up a storm in cell block no.9, the warden can’t help trying to upstage their routine…
“We really wanted to continue with the ‘Americana’ aesthetic that served us so well in the Bruises video, creating a surreal and highly cinematic narrative that has, at it’s root a dose of absurdity,” Joe explains. “As soon as the guys played me the track I couldn’t get Fred Astaire tap dancing out of my head. It was just one of those images that leaped out of the track (no pun intended)…
“Dan Stafford Clarke’s lighting is just impeccable, he really got the concept and ran with it to create the world that I kept harping on about when we spoke about the project, finessed by Joe Lucas who did a great job as art director. It was the perfect setting for the top notch choreography by Adrian Gas. All in all it was probably one of the sweetest days work I’ve done, produced with aplomb, lit, shot, danced and crewed to perfection. I had a whopping great smile on my face all day. I still can’t tap though.”
