Escapists ‘Northern Lights’ by Sam Bailey

Sam Bailey – perhaps best known for directing the brilliant Francobollo video for I Found A Bike Today, starring Adeel Akhtar (recently featured on the BUG TV show on Sky Atlantic) – is back with a new music video for Escapists’ Northern Lights.
Appropriately enough, there’s some escapism involved in this coming of age tale of sweet, innocent love – involving a couple who dream of the stars, and are frowned upon by their elders…
“I first fell in love with the idea of escaping to space when co-writing Just Below The Above – a theatre production by Parrot {in the} Tank,” explains Sam. “Using child-like logic to create a method of launching into space was great fun to play around with and the two actors embraced this fully. The storyboard went straight out of the window in the first setup and I decided to just follow them and see where they took the story.
“We filmed it in one day in myself and the bands’ childhood town of Merton Park, so there was a great sense of nostalgia for all involved,” adds Sam, who’s follow-up video to Found A Bike will also be finished shortly…
