Dru ‘Edge’ by Alana O’Neill
Thursday, 27. October 2011 - 9:44 pm
Unsigned grime artist Dru has his roots in the wastelands of suburbia, and Alana O’Neill has directed the video for Edge, together with singer Bo Bruce – that reflects his background, shooting in a disused gym where he records, and Dru’s nighttime performance in a forest, lit by distress flares that illuminate several objects that hint to the lyrics of adversity in the track.

I was simply captivated when the angry fella rapped a word that sounded like clock, a clock like watch that you tell the time with. The director then cut to a clock lying on the ground. This is so clever I need to lie down

I recently interviewed this kid, he told me the whole video was shot in just a few hours for a few hundred pounds…I like it as it’s not ‘polished’, it reflects him and his music. He’s not trying to be full grime but transcend the scene and look at the ‘pop’ market. The guy is savvy, expect to see many more people wearing the T shirt. Well done kid.
