Example ‘Midnight Run’ by Adam Powell
Tuesday, 25. October 2011 - 11:30 am

Adam Powell heads to Iceland with Example for the promo to new single Midnight Run.
The video is based on a short film that Elliot aka Example made at university – taking place within a surreal dream – and to capitalize on the epic Icelandic landscape, Adam’s teammates Erik Sohlstrom and Aubrey Woodiwiss help serve up a feast of strong aesthetics.

not a flattering image at all. why use that?
neanderthal.

my university tutors always said that the ‘he woke up and it was all a dream’ stories are a bit of a NO NO…

I like this example fella, his raps and tunes seem to going down a real treat with the hackney lot. His previous Black and White performance video by the very talented director was almost perfect, a performance shot with care, time and attention. His video with wretch 32 was also nice, fun on the housing estates. But mr example is no Steve McQueen, he’s no Ryan Gosling, he’s more Steve Gutenberg

@ dreamer – ‘those who can do, those who can’t teach’.
Its shot and graded beautifully. Its a bonkers drug infused journey. Example is no Steve McQueen, thats true but is he trying to be?
I’m feeling this one. I’ll have what he’s having.

this is a pop music video that works on all levels. its balanced in its abstraction from reality. the imagery is stunning, the edit is seamless and Example comes across cool. Another stunning piece by Mr Powell

Fucking love this, looks like a David Lynch film either its the dop or the light in Iceland either way big step up for Adam. Agree the edit is seamless doesn’t matter that I dont get the story, how can you diss something that looks this good
25. October 2011 - 10:58 pm
Is this a Mustang product placement? If it isnt it should be, Powell obviously after a car ad, give it to him.
26. October 2011 - 8:04 am
is everyone watching the same video as me? its alright and everything but surely some of the above comments are a little efusive. its hardly a masterpiece even by current standards.
26. October 2011 - 10:00 am
i will take that fee and also wager money that at next years MVA’s this video is nowhere to be seen. Nice lady, nice car, nice chopper bike, very average video

David Lynch keep dreaming mediocre video at best well done to the producer and service company for pulling it all together though good job.
26. October 2011 - 7:11 pm
Haterz gonna hate. This is an absolutely superb video, stunningly conceived and shot. This is light years ahead of most of the dross out there at the moment, could there be a few sour grapes popping up on here?
26. October 2011 - 9:16 pm
its alright but comparisons to lynch and proclamations of stunningness and seamlessness seem a little much. thats all, no sour grapes – just think we should aim a bit higher. different genre etc but that keith schofield vid is a little closer to the bar is it not?

artbeats light leaks. Are people still using those? With some of the incredible videos on this page today, I find it hard to believe anyone could think this is really strong work. Putting aside the average photography and grade, the key to any video of this type is surely making the artist look good and having worked with the artist before, the director should have known that he couldn’t make a video like this work. It’s not a car crash like that recent Saturdays video, but it really isn’t great on any level either. It scores high on the cringe-o-meter and while I don’t think anyone should be tearing it apart, we probably shouldn’t be applauding it for it’s brilliance.
27. October 2011 - 9:39 am
really awful grade. bad edit. apart from that, it was alright. powell has done much better.
28. October 2011 - 10:41 am
So many w*****s so little time.
This video is great, badly shot what the f**k are you talking about?? Tommy twopence who are you? bad grade bad edit? Wow. Nick’s right, sour grapes or an Uncle with wandering hands seems to have bred some prize plums.
What your Uni teacher thinks you should or shouldn’t do?? If you teacher knew what they were talking about surely they would be doing it themselves rather than teaching a bunch of crusty pant wearing hippys. Smoke another bong and pipe down.
