Taio Cruz’s Dirty Picture by Alex Herron
Friday, 23. April 2010 - 12:00 pm
This is the fourth collaboration between UK r’n'b singer Taio Cruz and director Alex Herron, and as Cruz’s star begins to rise in the US, this director’s cut of Dirty Picture features an appearance by girl of the moment, Ke$ha.
This raunchier cut captures an edgier, sexier vibe as we see Taio hanging out and doing his stuff in a steamy LA nightclub.

Yes, yes, yes… oh god, no. What a bag of utter wank. Audi R8s are not cool, and will never be. Oh he’s in the desert, driving, and it’s cool, and then suddenly he;s like in the Paparazzi video, but hold on folks, Alex isn’t Jonas… and oh no, it’s ass. Whoop whoop, someone promised the world and had no budget. Oh well.
24. April 2010 - 12:17 am
this really is just a waste of time
24. April 2010 - 10:43 am
David K I think you should have a new category for ‘Hater of the year’ at the next MVA’s.

boxy likes the shot of the lady balancing on the toilet..he would like to have a drink from the toilet bowl

Where do people get off been offensive! Are these people commenting actually working directors? .. Mmmm probably not. Having your work up on promo is a great experience and people are gonna stop sending stuff in if its gonna be slagged off by bitter out of work directors…

If a director hasn’t got the stones to send their work in for fear somebody might – shock horror – be honest about it, then their video probably isn’t worth seeing anyway..
Another thing Sophie, I am very much a “working director”, but those who aren’t…the great unwashed you so detest; music fans, bloggers, people who work for insurance companies and (ugh!) aspiring directors not inundated with work….THEY’RE ALSO ENTITLED TO AN OPINION.
25. April 2010 - 9:22 pm
agreed with anon
do reviewers in the guardian HAVE to nice when reviewing films
when dougal makes his first feature does the observer HAVE to love it
when something is good like dougal temper trap the other day……….we all love it just like the press love fishtank or kickass
25. April 2010 - 10:24 pm
Where do people get off being offensive?-
Are they working directors?-
To qualify. I’ve directed videos for majors and indies and shot maybe 40 videos as a DOP. I mainly shoot features now.
I’ve walked away from this business because it is collapsing. Video budgets have caved in but commissioners still behave as if they are spreading money around. They should be on their knees in gratitude to the producers, directors and crews who bring in more bang for diminishing buck every time.
Anyway, that’s off topic. This video stinks like a week old fish in the midday sun.
Oh and don’t bother looking me up- I’m not using my real name because I still have friends in the business who might get hurt by some of my honesty.

Constructive criticism would be nice though wouldn’t it Kipper / Anon.. I agree that everyone should have an opinion but literally destroying every video you come across that isn’t by Dougal is just ridiculous.
26. April 2010 - 9:06 am
Agreed MrMann. Blanket abuse is a waste of time. But this video is distinctly not-very-interesting.
26. April 2010 - 9:23 am
Did everyone enjoy the sun this weekend, or were we surfing promo news?
26. April 2010 - 9:49 am
boxy is running round in circles chasing his own farts
26. April 2010 - 11:41 am
urgh…the track is abominable, therefore the video could only stink . let me guess,it was made for £40K and NOT A PENNY MORE…ha ha ha Commissioner B, nice one.
If people are going to defend work against ‘haters” ie people with an honest opinion, then at least defend something worth defending. If you feel this video is worth defending artistically then please go and get a job as a Community Support Police Officer or a a Tory Election Campaigner because your country really needs you..
Now, if you want your camera themed musical palate cleansed after enduring that trash, then watch this. Cameras Ready, Prepare to Flash :

Just like Bart I’m not a bitter out of work director, I just hate the way this industry chews up and spits out genuine talent. I like a video if it’s good and am happy to say so. I walked away from promos because I still have some pride and refuse to give the amount of time and effort you need to make those budgets go anywhere. Alex is a straight down the middle director, just look at his reel. I have no problem with that, I do have a problem with better directors being starved of work when this is the shit that ends up winning the work. There’s plenty of other outlets for creative work, but this industry is so full of bullshit I’m going to keep popping balloons and giving my opinion because it winds you lot up something rotten, and because deep down you know that I’m actually right.
26. April 2010 - 1:32 pm
As a point of interest – why do people never really comment here on the teeny tiny budgeted, quirkily inventive indie videos..?
It’s always the lager budgeted pop and r&b videos that invariably come under fire and stir up massive debate…
Is it because these videos are the ones that appear across the board on the music channels because of their budgets and promotion? And because of their sheer blanket bomb visibility they’re the ones that – like it or not – seem to be representing UK music video production the most – both good and bad..?
26. April 2010 - 2:51 pm
Check out the almighty spat that erupted over the Kila Kela video recently. We don’t mind butting heads over the quirky ones, we really don’t.
26. April 2010 - 4:24 pm
Billy Rubin – you literally spend ALL your time on here don’t you. would love to see some of your work
26. April 2010 - 6:26 pm
Haha, good putdown, maybe I type faster than you?
27. April 2010 - 8:10 pm
I’ve totally changed my mind, this is a great video, I love this sort of thing so much, there should be more of it.
2. May 2010 - 11:37 am
It feels as though the demonic Masons have also gotten into Taio Cruz’s head. ‘Take a dirty picture’? Soon he will be spreading more filth among Britains uneducated classes. Vote for me and I will stop this kind of horrendous devil worshipping trash! Vote Cameron!
4. May 2010 - 8:26 am
This one’s for Doofus, you wanted to see work, here it is. After all the morons decided to start imitating me which really is pathetic actually, (if you all hate me so much!), I felt it was time to get off my arse and actually make something, post it here for you all to dig your claws into and at least prove I’m not just some bitter hater. I directed it, shot it and edited it and if you hate it that’s absolutely fine… have at it guys.

“elskid.com
I’m a bit of a jack of all trades – director, editor, cameraman, motion graphics and vo all thrown into one pale and pasty body. I used to run Chrome Productions before turning freelance. Started out in Extreme Sports and graduated to music videos before now making the bold move into drama. Just bought a 7D and pimped it – not all plain sailing…. blogging about it at elskid.com/blog”

“I love the band Delphic and when I saw the video that had been made for their single ‘Doubt’ I really felt the director had missed a trick with the track. It’s really an editor’s song with the beats and sections clearly demanding more than I felt he’d allowed.”
Taken from Billy’s blog http://www.elskid.com/blog/
Well you really showed Dave Ma didn’t you. You basically just ripped off his entire THING! Badly.

“ROBIN SCHMIDT (EL SKID)
I’m an ex-music video director, editor and cameraman, founding director firstly of Chrome Productions and now Buzz Films, blasting full steam ahead for a career in the movies and have embraced DSLR filmmaking with complete disregard for my own sanity and financial security. Join me as I careen headfirst into a world that I genuinely know nothing about. You may even learn something. I’m writing a guide for the uninitiated trying to explain just what all the fuss is about and dispel a few internet untruths along the way.”
4. May 2010 - 8:55 pm
I can’t believe what I’m reading. Firstly, I am most definitely not Billy Rubin. I don’t know where this asshole gets off using my work and prostituting it as his own but I’m absolutely furious. Jesus, I’ve got guys crawling out of the woodwork to criticise me for being some idiot on a blog when I’m just getting about my business. I’ll happily be judged on the work I’ve done but I’ll not be slagged off for someone else’s indiscretions. Also, as far as I know mr doofus Dave Ma never went anywhere near the video for this track.
