This micro-budgeted clip for the touted Is Tropical by Gareth Phillips – mates of the band’s Simon and Gary from art school in Bournemouth – is a distinctively-shot performance, with effects and composites, and use of webbing, to reflect the song’s subject matter: war.
“Their sound has raw elements and a low fi sensibility. We wanted to carry this across to the edit and visuals,” says Gareth, who shot it on a Canon 5D mk II.
