For the third single from the Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King album, the Dave Matthews Band wanted something a little different video-wise, and that’s what they got: an intimate performance that becomes a flashmob-style event where a considerable number of fans accompany the band on the song You And Me.

“I wanted to keep the video simple as the song was so personal,” says Michael Baldwin, the British director shooting his first US-commissioned video. “Then the ‘You and Me’ part made me think of a mass play-along, with the ‘you’ being anyone and everyone possible.

“We had no trouble getting accomplished musicians to be part of the video, as Dave has a huge fanbase. In fact, we had far too many applicants – it took me a day to wade through the casting websites. It sounded amazing on the day, as everyone had spent a few days learning their parts of the song and when they first played along, it was brilliant. They were louder than the playback.”

When will they release the “making of” this video? It would be phenomenal to hear and see the version with everyone playing! Such a positive, hopeful, song about cherishing all the folks in our lives and savoring the joyful moments.

what a dreary song and video. its the visual/aural equivalent of a lonely death in the aisles of ikea, dressed from head to toe in gap, with starbucks vomit dribbling down your chin.

    Ghastly.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion – but Stephen, rather than dribble vomit and sh*tsling other people’s work while taking on the role of the tasteless overcritical critic, let’s have a look at your astoundingly mind-blowing videos, Sir, link?? As others may agree; dress up in Gap and find yourself a fitting Ikea aisle mate.
