BUG 12: UNKLE’s Heaven by Spike Jonze & Ty Evans

Monday, 30. March 2009 - 2:51 pm

UNKLE’s Heaven by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans - from footage from their movie Fully FlaredWhen Ty Evans, Spike Jonze and others made their skate film Fully Flared, they used UNKLE’s lovely song Heaven on the soundtrack. Now the extraordinary sequence from the film’s intro – which makes the antics of Spike’s buddies in Jackass look like tea-party stuff – has been re-edited to work specifically with the track.

The Lakai skateboarding team – including Eric Koston, Lucas Puig, Cairo Foster and Alex Olson – demonstrate their skills over obstacles…. well, it would be a shame to completely spoil the surprise if you haven’t seen this before. Suffice to say, it was all done in-camera – and as far as we know, nobody was actually killed. It all adds up to an amazing video.

Incidentally, music video trivia fans, we have it on good authority that Spike appears in Patrick Daughters’ video for Depeche Mode. No, that’s not him behind the mask, behind the wheel. He performed one of the stunts.

Very cool. And that’s Gavin Clarke of Clayhill and ex-Sunhouse on vocals too. Great stuff.
