Black Dog Films in London have signed Lilah Vandenburgh, director of the multi-award winning comedy short Bitch.
Lilah is based between New York and London, has a diverse background in theatre, film and music – with a special interest in comedy. A founder/creative director of the stage company Mr Toad’s Theatre Circle and a member of comedy troupe Cooperation Corporation, Vandenburgh has worked as a comedy writer for 15 years. She has also been a member in several bands and worked as a freelance editor.
Bitch, her 35mm directorial debut, is set on Venice Beach, and stars Keira Leverton as the fearsome, hardcore rock-loving eponymous lead. It played the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and has gone on to win 19 awards and commendations.
Lilah wrote and edited the film, and also produced and co-wrote the original soundtrack. Bitch also includes a version of REM’s Everybody Hurts which alludes to the video directed by Black Dog founding director Jake Scott. She is now represented for music videos by Black Dog in London.
