Ross Cooper and Bugsy Riverbank Steel aka OneInThree are back with a brace of new videos, one for Leon Jean-Marie (to be seen on Promonews shortly), and this one for those lascivious French dudes The Teenagers.
It’s a loving homage to Eighties movie posters – and in particular the art of Drew Struzan – and considering [...]

Shown at BUG 07 last week, and again at Dougal Wilson’s BUG Director’s Cut on Tuesday (when you could actually hear the words) it’s the Flight of the Conchords first proper video (as opposed to the spoof ones they have in their HBO show) by Nima Nourizadeh, and it’s, well, for all the ladies. In [...]

Men in white suits are all the rage. There’s the bouncing man in Dougal Wilson’s Goldfrapp Happiness video, and Sebastien Tellier (and his body doubles) in Ace Norton’s video for Eurovision entry Divine.
And then there’s Jamie Lidell, the soul man who brings solace to girls who speak, hear and see no evil in Tim [...]

thirtytwo’s latest video is this mix-media affair for Domino band Wild Beasts (a bit of a misnomer this, as they are not exactly Iron Maiden).
It features some deft textured animation, based on illustrations by Giulio Bigazzi, on a journey through the wonderfully bizarre world of Tarot, together with a moody atmospheric performance.
Wild Beasts
The [...]

Dan Lowe has been working hard with Anthony Dickenson, in a sub-sect of the teamStush collective that they call LODEF, documenting the Parisien photographer JR’s Women Are Heroes project. More on that later from Dan and Anthony soon on Promo, and also here.
But first here, at long last, is a new video from Dan, proving [...]

Every new R.E.M. album brings fresh claims of a return to former greatness, but this time it actually looks justified. This song, Hollow Man, actually does sound like it could be on Green or Automatic For The People.
Conversely the video for Hollow Man could hardly be more Noughties: a freewheeling mirror to the digital world [...]

Last Thursday’s BUG at the BFI Southbank was another roaring success – despite some serious problems with sound quality.
Adam Buxton presented some fantastic videos for The Bird And The Bee, Flight Of The Conchords, Food For Animals, Interpol, Pivot, R.E.M., Sebastien Tellier, Sia, Sonny J and more. Plus an Oscar-nominated animation of a 40 year [...]

Gnarls Barkley’s run of highly watchable videos continues with this one by Canadian director Wendy Morgan, shot in Jamaica and featuring some talented local dancers rather than Cee-Lo and Dangermouse in funny costumes.
Producer Jannie McInnes from Revolver Film Company says that Wendy was inspired by a visit to Africa a year or so ago, [...]

Young melodic indie kids go on their first big tour, so Lindy Heymann, who shot the first One Night Only video, documents proceedings.
And reveals that they are babe magnets, even when they’re doing a sound check at Fat Sam’s in Dundee.

In the olden days they used to call it a medley and it wasn’t that uncommon. So it’s interesting that Laura Marling, who’s about twelve (well, she looks it with her new haircut) should revive the old tradition by sticking two songs together and releasing them as one.
It’s probably coincidental that the video for Cross [...]
